We will be joined this month by Mr. Michael Whitehead, owner of Whitehead Environmental Services, LLC. Michael is a Soil Scientist with 30 years of professional experience as an environmental consultant. His experience includes numerous Phase I ESAs in Texas and surrounding states, Phase II Investigations, remediation design and oversight, report development, and project management. He will speak on some of the challenges of being a hazardous materials professional. Come with stories to share!​

​Topic: ​ Our speaker will be Clayton Snider, Group Manager at Braun Intertec Corporation. Remediation of contaminated groundwater can be challenging and costly. By restricting the use of groundwater beneath a property for potable purposes using a Municipal Setting Designation (MSD), the costs to address the contamination can be reduced as well as assist in the redevelopment of properties. An MSD is an ordinance that restricts groundwater beneath a property for potable purposes which must be approved by the respective municipality and certified by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. In this presentation, Clayton will go over the criteria that must be met in order to be eligible for an MSD as well as the challenges and advantages of an MSD.
