It’s a good reminder that growing our organization doesn’t always require a big campaign. Sometimes, it starts with a casual conversation over lunch.
We have a real opportunity - and responsibility - to grow the next generation of AHMP members. If we want AHMP to remain strong, relevant, and vibrant, we need to be intentional about bringing early-career professionals into our community.

July Webinar: Combustible Dust Explosions - Awareness and Mitigation

Combustible dust explosions remain a significant industrial hazard, often resulting in devastating consequences for facilities and personnel. This webinar will provide an overview of combustible dust explosion risks, examining trends and common causal factors through a review of U.S. Chemical Safety Board (CSB) incident data. Participants will also be introduced to the NFPA 7-point dust explosion hazard schematic, gaining practical insight into identifying hazards and implementing effective mitigation strategies to reduce the risk of combustible dust incidents.

- Attendees will gain knowledge of the trends in causal factors of combustible dust explosions through CSB report data review
- Introduction and exploration of the 7-point NFPA dust explosion hazard schematic
Speaker: Dr. Ashok Ghose Dastidar
Dr. Ashok Ghose Dastidar is a leading expert in chemical process hazards analysis with more than 32 years of experience specializing in flammable dust, liquid, and vapor explosion hazards, combustion hazards testing, and electrostatic hazards analysis. He holds degrees from Dalhousie University, Saint Mary’s University, and the Technical University of Nova Scotia, including a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
Dr. Dastidar has been with Fauske & Associates, LLC since 2007 and is an active member of AIChE, ASTM, and NFPA. He serves as Vice-Chair of ASTM Committee E27 on Hazard Potential of Chemicals, Chair of ASTM Subcommittee E27.05 on Dust Explosion Test Methods, and Chair of NFPA 660 Chapters 23 and 25. He also serves on the editorial advisory boards of Powder/Bulk Solids and the Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries.

EHMM Instructor Needed
AHMP is seeking a volunteer subject matter expert with practical experience in one or more of the following environmental and geological topics, which correspond to chapters in the AHMP Desk Reference, to teach as part of the EHMM Night School.
- Chapter 9: Geology and Hydrogeology
- Chapter 16: Underground Storage Tanks
- Chapter 22: Environmental Sampling
- Chapter 23: Remediation Technologies
- Chapter 24: Brownfields
- Chapter 25: Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA)
Teaching experience is helpful but not required—enthusiasm for sharing your expertise and supporting professional development is most important.

EHMM Night School & Scholarship
The Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management (EHMM) Night School returns September 2 – November 11, 2026, offering a convenient, live online learning experience for busy professionals.
Held live via Zoom on Wednesday evenings (6:00–9:30 PM ET), this 11-week course delivers expert-led instruction in a flexible, engaging format—no final exam required.
Participants will gain practical, real-world insights from a diverse panel of subject matter experts, with content aligned to the latest AHMP Desk Reference (Version 4)—included with registration.
An optional post-course knowledge check is also available for those preparing for certification exams.
Who Should Attend? Individuals who are:
Preparing for CHMM or CHMP certification
Looking to earn 3.3 CEUs and stay current
Expanding knowledge across environmental disciplines
