I am personally very excited for the upcoming EHS HazMat Summit scheduled to be conducted in New Orleans, LA from September 29 to October 1, 2026. I actually participated in my first ever EHS Summit last year in Louisville, KY, and it was remarkable to see the efforts of everyone involved materialize. I am truly looking forward to seeing the anticipated expansion of participation this year for the scheduled Summit. Also, given the location, there are many museums and sight-seeing events that you can all enjoy. I am hoping to help with some of these tours myself and encourage others to do the same, as the variety of activities in New Orleans is endless (and it is not just about Bourbon Street!)!
One area in this organization that I am a key stakeholder in supporting and assisting is our young member group. AHMP will benefit immensely if we continue to attract young talent from the workforce as well as even at colleges that initiate young professionals in our technical arena of environmental and hazardous materials management. We are continuing our recruitment efforts to encouraging these soon-to-be or young professionals to join our organization and enjoy the benefits of AHMP membership. I would ask each of you for your support, ideas as well as participation as we continue to roll out our efforts throughout the year.
In closing, I would like to challenge all of you to find ways to support your local Chapters and various Committees, attend the EHS HazMat Summit in 2026 and stay involved in this
organization. Every amount counts, no matter the time or commitment. Thank you all!
Vincent E. Ricevuto, P.E., CHMM, REM, CSP, PMP Vice Chair, Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals, Inc.

AHMP Chapter Trivia Contest
We’re excited to roll out something a little different — and we’d love your help bringing it to life! (You don't have to be a member of a Chapter to participate!)
What Is It? A 10-month, recurring trivia series sponsored by the Johns Hopkins ERC and hosted via Kahoot on Zoom. The ERC is covering the platform subscription and custom trivia content, created specifically for AHMP by the HazMat Scholar duo, Kurt and Phil.
During the first round of the Trivia Contest, Hazmat Scholar treated us to an incredibly detailed series of trivia questions that equally tested the early career and seasoned hazardous materials professionals in attendance. Once the non-combustible dust settled, Kentuckiana Chapter had taken the evening!
When: Last Thursday of each month, 8:00 PM EST Where: Online (Zoom + Kahoot) Who: AHMP Members, Students & Industry Friends Cost: Free - just make sure to register! Vibe: Low-stakes, high-fun
This series is about:
- Sparking intrachapter relationships through interchapter competition
- Creating a space where it’s totally okay to be anonymously wrong (or right) about the wide world of hazmat
- Encouraging early-career professional and student engagement
- Giving us a reason to be together outside of formal meetings and webinars
- Earning continuing education credits!
- Yes — banter is absolutely encouraged
