Most rechargeable batteries are safe. However, sometimes they have hidden hazards. This webinar will show what to look for if a rechargeable battery would fail. How to recognize if a rechargeable battery may cause a fire or potentially explode. We will look at the types of rechargeable batteries that are on the market. How rechargable batteries could go into thermal runaway if in cells. This presentation will focus on e-mobility devices and other items you may encounter in the home or at work. Presentation will cover how to protect yourself if a rechargeable battery fails. We will also look at how these batteries cause major hazards if disposed improperly. Speaker: Ben Hissam CHMM, CHST, CHSP, REM Ben Hissam is a seasoned safety and emergency response professional with decades of experience in environmental health and safety, hazardous materials, and disaster preparedness. He is a certified Haz-Mat Instructor, OSHA Outreach Instructor for General Industry, Construction, and Disaster Site Workers, and a Stop the Bleed Instructor. Ben spent 14 years with Procter & Gamble in EHS, where he also served as Team Leader for the company’s Haz-Mat Response Team. He dedicated 20 years to the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation as a Safety Consultant Specialist before retiring on August 1, 2025. In addition, Ben is a Part 107 Commercial UAV drone pilot and a past member of the UAS 500 Regional Response Team. His instructional credentials include serving as a FEMA Instructor with NCBRT and as a MERRTT Instructor for TEPP through the U.S. Department of Energy. Cost to Attend: Register Now |
